A genre jumper, I write (never in this order): poetry, fiction, middle-grade children’s fiction (mostly eco-fiction/contemporary fantasy).
My short story PLAYING DEAD was longlisted for the 2024 Mslexia Short Fiction Contest. My middle grade novel TROUBLE BENEATH THE WAVES was longlisted for the 2025 Mslexia children’s/young adult competition. Both TROUBLE and my middle-grade work-in-progress, THE MONSTER AT ELIZABETH LAKE, placed in recent SCBWI Sue Alexander Grant competitions. And MONSTER longlisted for the Yeovil Literary Prize.
My adult writing credits include, ZYZZYVA, Crab Creek Review, Phoebe, Santa Barbara Independent, The Pedestal, Chattahoochee Review, Askew Poetry Journal, and elsewhere. I’ve attended Bread Loaf, been a Rona Jaffe Award Semi-Finalist, recipient of an Abroad Writers’ Conferences poetry fellowship and other awards. I’m the author of two poetry chapbooks, VALLEY MEDITATION (Finishing Line Press) and NIGHTMARES WITH MOONS (Pudding House Press).
I’m currently enrolled in Bath Spa University’s MA Writing for Young People.
A 7th generation Californian, I live in Valencia, CA with my husband, teen and a mini-zoo of rescued pets. I grew up by the beach, but living in the mountains I’ve discovered that they (especially after heavy rains and clouds), like the beach, fix everything.
