Aaaaaand hello November and the clocks falling back an hour, voting day right around the corner.
The teen voted for the first time and drove us to the ballot box at a local park. Changes! (sob) Very glad he’s chosen English as his college major, grateful he can live at home while pursuing his A.A. and writing his novel. Hoping he transfers to UCSB to become a Gaucho like his mother, but whatever he chooses, parents approve. So many inner-emotional bursts: as I watched him head across campus to class his first day, vote, as I’m a passenger in his car. Bursts: OMG! Sob! He’s a real human being! He aced that parallel parking! He’s sharing his personal playlist when driving me around! He’s sharing opinions on candidates! He’s walking the dog without me asking 20 times! He’s writing! Sob, sob, sob!
Not so exciting and extremely worrying is all the election interference taking place in the courts and on the streets. Hoping the polls are correct, but regardless hoping people swarm their voting precincts tomorrow. I stay tuned to the news through: Heather Cox Richardson, Meidas Touch, Aaron Parnas, Jess Craven, thatpoliticsgirl. NYT and Vanity Fair? Never, EVER again. Except for Wordle.
Vote, stay safe!
And don’t forget to write.
Yours in big beautiful blue waves,
PB.
